The im体育运动平台 Counseling Service supports the academic mission of the College by providing crisis intervention and short-term counseling services to students encountering psychological problems that could interfere with their academic progress. 心理教育项目, addressing high-frequency mental health issues in the college population, are presented throughout the year by staff and trained peer educators. All members of the im体育运动平台 community can contact counseling staff to obtain information, 咨询, and referral options for treatment issues beyond the scope of those offered at the College.
Counseling services on a short-term basis are available to assist students in dealing with personal issues and emotional concerns. 个别咨询会议, 自助资源, and workshops on various topics are offered on campus to assist students with their psychological well-being and individual development. Students may use this service by making a confidential appointment at 亚当斯中心. There are no fees for these services.

办公时间是8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. 星期一到星期五. Counselors are on call after hours for emergencies and may be contacted via 校园警察 at 903.813.2555.
The 咨询中心 generally operates on an appointment basis; however, walk-ins are welcome. Students wanting an appointment should call 亚当斯中心 at 903.813.2247 or stop by to make an appointment. Appointments are usually available within 48 hours. 第一次预约后, the student and counselor will collaborate to determine the best course of action.
Students in crisis will always be given priority, with all service users informed that their appointment may be rescheduled should an emergency arise.
The counselor is available to consult with faculty members about concerns they may have in dealing with a particular student or with their approach to students in general. This may be done over the phone or by appointment.
The im体育运动平台 咨询服务 follows established privacy standards and procedures mandated by state and federal laws pertaining to confidentiality and release of information. 所有记录均为机密. Material revealed in counseling will remain strictly confidential with the following exceptions in accordance with state law:
- The client signs a written release of information indicating informed consent to such release
- Counselee is under 18 years of age
- The client expresses serious intent to harm himself/herself or someone else
- There is evidence or reasonable suspicion of abuse/neglect against a minor child, 长者(65岁或以上), 或者一个依赖的成年人
- A subpoena or other court order is received directing the disclosure of information. Our policy is to warrant either privileged communication in the event of a subpoena or the right to consult with clients, 如果可能的话, 除非紧急情况, before mandated disclosure in the event of (2) or (3).
Your records are NOT part of your academic or administrative records.
Some states, including Texas, ask about therapy as part of the application to the bar. Some state medical boards request this information as well. Similar information is requested by some religious denominations prior to ordination. Some federal agencies require releasing this information for applicants applying for sensitive government positions. We respond to requests with brief summaries, which have, to date, been sufficient. This information is only released with your written consent.
